SONY CENTRE FURY 102 EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY 64
Scottish National Senior Mens Division 1 Championship

The Falkirk side powered to an impressive win in the capital as their Bulgarian forward Boris Matrakov put on an offensive show with 5 threes included in a team individual season high 39pts. Matrakov held Fury together as the student side fought early on to stay with the league leaders.
The former Rocks pro hit 11 personal in the opening period, that saw Fury lead 19-14. He then put on a show in the second with 23pts that saw him hit 3 consecutive 3’s in a 15pt scoring run. The 34 -18 second quarter, gave the Sony sponsored side a comfortable 21pt half time lead. Matrakov added a further 5 at the start of the third before sitting down 4 minutes in and not returning for a 39pt tally in just over a half of basketball! The 4th then saw Lithuanian Eddy Leginus step up big time as he sought to match Matrakov’s second period tally – hitting 17pts in the period, including 5 threes.
Once again there was a solid team effort at both ends of the floor, with 10 of the 12 Fury players getting on the scoresheet. It was also another solid performance from Matrakov’s Bulgarian countryman – Ivan Ganchev in a 7pt and 4 block spell in the third period.
Fury now stand at 6-3 at the half-way point of the season and sit top of the league and Headcoach John Bunyan told Heraldsport that the Championship is wide open – “ Despite the 3 losses , we are very much still in the title race. Our form continues to improve as our new season signings, bond with the team and I am confident we can be in contention down the stretch. Boris had an exceptional game for us against Edinburgh University and Eddy’s form in that last quarter, showed us a glimpse of the player he has been for us since in the past few seasons. “
