7 threes from Fury’s veteran captain Keith Bunyan dispelled any hopes the Fife side had of causing an upset to the Sony sponsored side’s Championship run that sees them now move to 12 wins and 1 loss for the season and remain top of the table with 5 games to play. Fury also moved to within 46 pts of their 1,000 league point of the season .
The team now sit with a 73 point per game scoring average with 56 pts per game conceded giving an impressive 17pt average game difference.
The match started with both teams trading baskets and it was Fury’s centre Ross Gibson who found his scoring touch early inside with 6 of the opening 8 points. Fury shared their scoring in the opening stanza with Lithuanian Eddy Leginus adding 7, Bunyan with two of his seven threes and Austrian Adam Hammerschmidt and Greek forward Greg Foussas also finding the bottom of the net.
But it was the second period that saw Fury move up a gear as they increased their intensity at both ends of the floor and finishing with a 24-13 second quarter scoreline and a 15 pt half time lead. Bunyan had added a further 3 threes in the second period as he led the Fury scoring.
The third saw Fury run their bench but they struggled to add to the teams lead. Reign then took the game to Fury closing it to a 6 point affair going into the final period.
However Fury’s Championship pedigree showed in the final quarter as Gibson and Scotland International Bryan Munnoch took Fury back into a double digit lead and when Captain Keith Bunyan got his 7th three of the game, it was match over as the Falkirk side closed out with a 23 point win. Austrian Adam Hammerschmidt proved unstoppable in the 4th with 13 personal and finished the games top scorer on 26 pts. Bunyan had 23 with Leginus on 14 and Gibson on 10.
