BBL Championship
Worcester Wolves 80 (23,42,60) (Losonsky 20, Couisnard 19, Smith 16)
Glasgow Rocks 69 (22,44,58) (Gillis 22, Achara 17, Grabau 11)

Two new look teams started the BBL Championship campaign in an impressive manner with a nail-biting game  down to the final minutes right up until a questionable unsportsmanlike foul was called on Gillis (contesting an offensive rebound) all but squandered any chance the Rocks had of coming out of Worcester with a W.

For 37 minutes, both teams tried to get the better of one another with no less than 13 lead changes taking place. The Rocks looked to break the game open  in the 3rd when new boy Warren Gillis scored seven points in a row in the  to give them a 51-56 lead. However, Couisnard hit back with a remarkable three-pointer on the 24 second clock buzzer (with a hand in his face) to keep them in the game and the Wolves ended the quarter on a 9-2 run which saw them head into the final stanza 60-58 to the good.

The fourth quarter saw both teams up the defensive intensity and both teams struggled to find early points. With a little over 3 minutes to play on the clock and the scores at 68-66, Gillis penetrated to the basket missing a contested lay-up. His attempt at rebounding his missed shot was deemed “unsportsmanlike” which unfortunately put an end to the Rocks hopes as the Wolves scored 4 points from the insinuating plays with very little time remaining on the clock.

The Wolves closed out the game from the free throw line and ended up 80-69 point winners, with the final score not indicative of the closeness of the fixture.

The Rocks will now have a 2 week break to gear up for their first home game of the 2015/16 season, when they take on the Manchester Giants who registered their first win for the season on Sunday when they took down the Cheshire Phoenix 75-87.
