Dominant first-leg performance puts Rocks in complete control ahead of Worcester return...

BBL Play-Off Quarter-Finals, first leg
Glasgow Rocks 90 (27, 47, 66)(Achara 22, Gillis 20, Stephens 11)
Worcester Wolves 53 (17, 32, 45)(Blackwell 18, Couisnard 12, Jackman 9)

Glasgow Rocks have one foot in their first BBL Play-Off Semi-Final in four years following a 90-53Quarter-Final first leg victory against Worcester Wolves on Friday.

Captain and Great Britain international Kieron Achara led by example as he scored 22 points and reeled in 10 rebounds to help the Scottish side lead from the first minute to the last in front of their home fans.

Rocks went into the tie as the lower seed, finishing fifth in the BBL Championship one place below Wolves, despite beating them in their final regular season game last weekend.

But it was Sterling Davis’ men who claimed the upper hand from the outset, two quick-fire Achara baskets sparking a 10-0 first period run to establish the advantage.

Without influential forward, Javier Mugica, Paul James’ men struggled to contain Rocks’ frontcourt force, despite the best efforts of Perris Blackwell, who finished with 18 points.

The Rocks lead continued to grow throughout, as they kept their foot down ahead of the second leg while Wolves’ paltry 23% field-goal shooting was never going to amount to much.

Warren Gillis added 20 points and 12 assists for the dominant Rocks, who will seek to complete the job during the return leg at the University of Worcester Arena on Sunday.
