Scottish Cup Second Round

Eddy Leginus once again showed his quality with a 20pt display for Fury Men, who will now face bitter rivals St.Mirren in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
A recent Championship League win against the Knights suggested Fury would easily advance to the Final 8 and the first quarter confirmed this as the Sony sponsored side opened up an 18-6 lead. The Mariner SC was again at capacity and the fans were never left in doubt that their team would advance to the next round. Building on their lead as each quarter progressed Fury were able to comfortably run their entire team before running out 26 point winners.
4 Fury players reached double figures in scoring terms with Austrain Adam Hammerschmidt and Scotland guard Bryan Munnoch sharing 22. Greek forward Greg Foussas had 10. Fury shot 40% from the field and racked up 14 threes as their perimeter shooting continues to be a key feature of their game. With 42 rebounds the Falkirk side dominated the boards and its that type of form they will need this week when they take on the team who took their League title from them last season – Boroughmuir Blaze on Saturday in the League.
Fury Headcoach told Heraldsport that his players were ready for the challenge the Blaze game will bring – “ Our team has successfully dealt with the loss of Ali Fraser who signed in Germany after two matches for us. We knew that Ali would pick up a pro contract but the adjustment in our line-up has gone well and we continue to be a positive offensive force while able also to play solid defence. Blaze know with one loss to St.Mirren that they cannot afford to drop another game and clearly a win for us would take us two games clear of what is potentially our biggest rivals for the Championship this season. The focus for us in training is dealing with their pressure defence and uptempo game. We defeated them in a pre-season game but nothing equates like the “real thing” so while it was a positive win for us, we need to go to the capitol, play well at both ends of the floor and look to go 7- 0! “
