FURY 24pt WIN PUTS THEM IN PLAY-OFF SEMI-FINALS

SONY CENTRE FURY 92 GLASGOW UNIVERSITY 68
Scottish Senior Men Plays-Off Quarter –Final

A strong 4th quarter that saw a 23-9 scoreline, secured a Final 4 spot for Fury in this seasons Play-Off Championship.
Quarter-Final opponents ,Glasgow University, stuck with this seasons Scottish Cup Winners and regular season Championship Runners-Up all the way until that final period, where Fury found another gear and pulled from 10pts ahead after three quarters to a convincing 24pt win.
The student side had opened the game strongly, with former Fury Junior, Euan Malcolm hitting their opening 7pts.
Malcolm’s 3pt shooting was to keep the Glasgow side in the game as he bagged 6 threes in the first three periods.
While Fury shared their scoring throughout the match, the game remained in the balance until that final stanza.
In fact it was a change to Fury’s defence in the 4th period that stopped the University team from scoring and held them to 9pts for the quarter.
For Fury, the win has set up a possible 4th game this season with St.Mirren, the side Fury defeated in the Scottish Cup Final. Saints have still to play Glasgow Storm but will be strong favourites to progress.
For Fury Bulgarian Boris Matrakov and Lithuanian Eddy Leginas top scored, sharing 42pts with fellow starters Bantu Burroughs on 19 and Adam Hammerschmidt on 14.
The bench scoring of Fury was once again pivotal with 19pts.
Fury’s Semi-Final tie is this Friday at Grangemouth SC with an 8pm tip – however as the game is in Hall 1, due to work in Hall 2, there will be limited spectator admission.
